Key licences
At minimum, three licences are required to be able to sell, supply and install security systems, including CCTV and/or alarms:
- Class 2B Security Licence: Sell security equipment and provide advice on its use
- Class 2C Security Licence: Security Equipment Specialist – Sell, install, maintain, repair, service and provide advice in relation to security equipment.
- Master Security Licence: (SLED) includes NSW Police background checks.
If you’re looking at getting a security system installed, ensure your provider has all of these licences! It is a legal requirement for all security providers to present evidence of these licences during any communications, including site visits and documentation.
Electricians are not security installers
